2005 New York City Bridge Conference
September 12-13 At the New York Marriot East Side
On September 12-13, 2005, bridge engineers from Belgium , Brazil , Canada , Croatia , Denmark , England , France , Ireland , Germany , Italy , Japan , Russia , Spain , and Taiwan presented recent developments in bridge engineering. These, along with an impressive list of U.S. bridge engineering experts made the conference notable for its international impact and archival quality. Papers presented at the conference were archived in two sets of proceedings. A select number of papers are published in a special issue of the Journal of Bridge Structures . The CD-ROM proceedings include all the papers presented at the conference, with only abstracts for those papers published in the Journal.

The 2005 New York City Bridge Conference featured a strong technical program designed specifically for engineers. To ensure the highest quality program, all papers have undergone a thorough review process and were published in a special Bridge Engineering Association Publication.

Keynote Speakers
Addressing the most current issues faced by today's engineers and designers, this year's Keynote Session includes six highly esteemed professionals, John Kulicki, President & CEO, Modjeski and Masters, Poul Ove Jensen , Architect, Dissing & Weitling, Denmark, Henry Petroski, Professor, Duke University, Dennis Mertz, Professor, University of Delaware, Henry Perahia, Deputy Commissioner & Chief Bridge Officer, New York City Department of Transportation, and Michel Virlogeux, Consulting Engineer, France.
New York City Bridge Conference Engineering Achievement Awards
In recognition of international bridge design and engineering research achievements, the New York City Bridge Conference Awards this year's Bridge Engineering Research Award was presented to Theodore V. Galambos , and the Bridge Design Award was presented to John M. Kulicki .
