5th International Cable-Supported Bridge Conference and LRFD Workshop on Bridge Design and Evaluation

The Bridge Engineering Association organized the 5th International Cable-Supported Bridge Operators’ Conference (ICSBOC) along with the New York State Bridge Authority and a distinguished group of renowned bridge engineers from all over the world. Throughout August 28-29, 2006, bridge operators, designers and academics from Croatia, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Norway, South Korea, Switzerland, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the USA presented state-of-the-art material, assuring an authoritative account on the developments in the field of cable-supported bridges. The conference proceedings are published in "Advances in Cable-Supported Bridges". Select papers are published in a special issue of the Journal of Bridge Structures, Vol. 2, Issue 2, 2006. Other papers are published in a CD-ROM format.

The conference activities also included a full-day LRFD Workshop on Bride Design & Evaluation.

The conference program highlights the Bridge Engineering Association’s commitment to quality and to the promotion of the state-of-the-art in bridge engineering. We recognize that the exchange of knowledge and expertise between bridge engineers from different countries is essential.

A special note of gratitude is due to the authors and reviewers of the papers. The quality of the conference proceedings is a result of the sacrifice of time and effort, dedication and collective wisdom of this body of technical experts in authoring and reviewing the papers. I acknowledge with appreciation their contributions.

Finally, I would like to thank the conference sponsors and attendees. I look forward to your participation in future Bridge Engineering Association events. Please check the News & Events section of this website for details regarding the upcoming events in 2007.
