20 years of Bridge Structures

This year, Bridge Structures enters its 20th anniversary! Spanning two decades, Bridge Structures has been a host to a myriad of innovations and breakthroughs in bridge engineering. Bridge Structures has published research that has changed how we look at bridge modeling, strength of materials or paved the way for advancement in construction techniques, and we have shined a spotlight on matters affecting transportation around the world, with a focuson public safety. This timeline traces its path from the very first issue to its 20th anniversary, with the opportunity to read some of the important papers published by Bridge Structures over the last 20 years.

About the Journal

Bridge Structures – Assessment, Design and Construction  aims to present the transformation of theoretical knowledge into guidelines and specifications that are compliant with the technical constraints of bridge engineering design. Papers will be solicited from researchers, designers, fabricators and contractors of significant bridge projects, covering a wide range of topics and interests to bridge engineers from all over the world. The main difference between existing journals, and the reason why Bridge Structures is of particular interest to engineers working in the field, is that the focus is on practical issues and on how certain techniques can be adopted in the work of the bridge engineer. This journal is intended to narrow the gap between researchers and practitioners and to provide state-of-the-art solutions to the emerging challenges and problems confronting the bridge engineering community.
